Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District
Key Issues
End the Fentanyl War at Our Border and in Our Backyard
End the Fentanyl War at Our Border and in Our Backyard
For Hope Scheppelman, this fight is personal.
Her cousin’s husband died from fentanyl, the poison killing families across America.
Since 2018, fentanyl has exploded, overtaking heroin and methamphetamine.
In 2022, under the Biden administration’s failed open-border policies, fentanyl poured into communities across Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3). It was found in a Bayfield middle school just miles from Hope’s home. A sophomore at Animas High died from an overdose. Students overdosed in Durango and La Plata County. In Cortez, three people died at a motel, taken by fentanyl. And in Moffat County, 13 people lost their lives to fentanyl overdoses in a single year.
This epidemic is ravaging Pueblo, Las Animas, Saguache, Rio Grande, and Moffat counties, rural regions suffering some of the highest overdose rates in Colorado. Families are being torn apart, and children are dying.
In 2023, over 1,089 Coloradans died, an 18.4% increase from the year before.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver for CD3:
- Finish the border wall and shut down every loophole fueling this drug invasion
- Hold China and Mexican cartels fully accountable for flooding our streets with poison
- Arm local law enforcement and first responders with the tools they need to stop fentanyl and save lives
- Protect our children and schools with aggressive prevention, real education, and Narcan access where it’s needed most
- Deliver targeted resources and enforcement to devastated areas like Pueblo, Moffat, Las Animas, Saguache, and Rio Grande counties
Hope Scheppelman won’t back down. She’s fighting to defend our children, secure our communities, and end the fentanyl nightmare before another life is lost.
Defending Our Land. Our Water. Our Way of Life.
Defending Our Land. Our Water. Our Way of Life.
Hope Scheppelman is a proud America First, conservative fighter who knows rural Colorado is the backbone of our nation. As a resident of Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3) and a fierce defender of Western values, Hope will protect agriculture, water rights, public and private property from radical environmentalists, federal overreach, and globalist agendas that threaten our way of life.
She stands firmly against Biden’s unconstitutional 30×30 land seizure scheme, federal land grabs, and conservation easements that strip families of generational rights. Hope is especially opposed to the introduction of the Gunnison Outdoor Resources Protection (GORP) Act; a reckless bill championed by Democrat Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper and co-sponsored by current Republican Congressman Jeff Hurd. Governor Jared Polis even praising Bennet and Hurd for their leadership.
The GORP Act is a direct assault on Colorado’s rural communities. It would lock up 730,000 acres of public land, shutting down grazing, mining, timber, and energy production. Crippling Western Colorado’s economy.
Worse, it hands over control of our headwaters to Washington bureaucrats, threatening clean water, forest health, and our ability to manage critical infrastructure. This bill undermines Colorado’s water laws and puts our agricultural future at risk.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver to CD3:
- She will repeal the GORP Act (if it passes) and fight fiercely to stop any future attempts to lock up our public lands.
- Protect our land and livelihoods from the Left and weak Republicans who enable their agenda.
- Fight to keep Colorado’s water in Colorado, defending senior water rights, strengthening local control, and stopping out-of-state and international water grabs.
- Eliminate the death tax that punishes family farms and ranches.
- Axe ESG mandates that hurt rural industries and give power to global corporations.
- Cut red tape and bureaucracy, unleashing the full potential of Colorado’s farmers, ranchers, and producers.
Hope supports multiple-use land policies that respect grazing, energy, hunting, and outdoor recreation, and she will fight back against the weaponized EPA and BLM that use regulation as a political weapon.
She will also lead the charge to:
- Remove the wolf from the Endangered Species List.
- Stop the forced introduction of wolves into Colorado, protecting livestock, wildlife, and rural families from this destructive political stunt.
Hope Scheppelman stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Colorado’s ranchers, farmers, and landowners. In Congress, she’ll send a clear and unwavering message to Washington, D.C.: Hands off rural Colorado.
Fixing Rural Healthcare, Restoring Dignity to Medicare & Medicaid
Fixing Rural Healthcare, Restoring Dignity to Medicare & Medicaid
Hope Scheppelman isn’t just talking about the rural healthcare crisis; she’s lived it. As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, a former U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, and someone who has served in Colorado’s hardest-hit communities, Hope has seen the heartbreaking gaps in care across Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3), from Montrose to Monte Vista, Alamosa to Dove Creek.
In places like Pueblo, seniors are waiting weeks for specialist appointments. In Rio Grande and Saguache counties, patients are driving over two hours just to reach a functioning clinic. Hospitals in the San Luis Valley are under threat of closure due to slashed Medicaid reimbursements, and veterans in Delta and Moffat counties are being denied the quality care they fought for.
Hope is ready to fight back.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver to CD3:
- Restore full Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements for rural providers, so our clinics stay open and our elderly and low-income families aren’t left behind.
- Slash bureaucratic red tape that delays or denies care for our most vulnerable, including children, seniors, veterans, and the disabled.
- Expand access to telehealth, mobile clinics, and emergency mental health services, especially for isolated areas like Mineral, Hinsdale, and Dolores counties.
- Champion veterans’ health care, ensuring those who served our nation are no longer forced to travel hours or face backlogs for basic treatment.
Hope won’t wait for Washington to fix it. She’ll bring the grit of a nurse practitioner and the discipline of a veteran to deliver results because the people of Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3) deserve better than closed hospitals, waitlists, and broken promises.
Fighting for Coal, Oil, Gas, and American Energy Independence
Fighting for Coal, Oil, Gas, and American Energy Independence
Hope Scheppelman is an America First conservative who knows that energy independence is national security, and for the hardworking families of Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3), it’s about survival.
Our district is blessed with abundant coal, oil, gas, and uranium, but radical climate extremists and weak Republicans are trying to shut it all down. Hope knows the truth: when you attack energy, you attack the people who power this country.
In Moffat County, the closure of Craig Station and the Colowyo and Trapper coal mines is set to wipe out hundreds of jobs and nearly half the county’s tax base, devastating schools, fire departments, and local economies. In the North Fork Valley, towns like Paonia and Somerset have already seen mines shut down, taking families, small businesses, and futures with them.
But it’s not just coal that’s under attack, our oil and gas workers in Garfield, Rio Blanco, La Plata, and Montezuma counties are being crushed by federal leasing bans, endless red tape, and the Biden administration, which is more focused on importing dirty oil from Venezuela than unleashing Colorado’s clean, abundant energy.
Hope won’t let that continue.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver to CD3:
- Reopen federal lands for coal, oil, gas, and uranium development, reversing Biden’s shutdowns and restoring Trump-era energy policies that put America first.
- Slash permitting delays and red tape, getting workers back on the rigs and mines fast.
- Defend Colorado’s energy towns, like Craig, Rangely, Rifle, Durango, and Cortez, from Green New Deal schemes and bureaucratic sabotage.
- End taxpayer handouts to solar companies tied to China, and stop UN climate treaties that weaken American sovereignty.
- Champion an all-of-the-above energy strategy; coal, oil, gas, nuclear, and homegrown uranium, not just unreliable wind and solar.
- Protect working families from rising energy prices, because no American should ever have to choose between heating their home and putting food on the table.
Hope Scheppelman knows that energy isn’t just policy, it’s people. It’s the dad working overtime in the oil field to send his kid to college. It’s the nurse in Craig who depends on tax revenue from the mine to keep her rural hospital open. It’s the family in Bayfield praying their gas stove isn’t outlawed next.
She will fight every single day in Congress to restore American energy dominance, protect rural jobs, and stand up to anyone – Democrat or Republican- who tries to shut down Colorado’s future.
Because when you fight for coal, oil, and gas, you fight for freedom.
Empowering Parents, Protecting Children, and Restoring Real Education
Empowering Parents, Protecting Children, and Restoring Real Education
Hope Scheppelman is a healthcare professional, Navy veteran, and America First conservative who believes parents, not the government, should guide their children’s upbringing and education.
Right here in La Plata County, a mother lost her child after school officials socially transitioned the student behind her back, hiding it from the family. That child is gone, and the system that allowed it must be held accountable.
As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, Hope has seen the irreversible harm caused by so-called “gender-affirming care” on young people. Children cannot consent to life-altering medical procedures, and parents must never be left in the dark.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver to CD3:
- Ban radical gender ideology and the sexualization of children in schools.
- Prohibit gender-transition procedures for minors, including surgeries, hormones, and puberty blockers.
- Protect parental rights and require full transparency from educators and school officials.
- Support school choice, homeschooling, and trade programs.
- Restore real education: reading, writing, math, science, and American civics.
- Return control of education to parents and local communities, not federal bureaucrats.
Hope Scheppelman will fight every day to protect children, empower parents, and put classrooms back in the hands of the people, not the radicals.
Because parents have the right to know. And children have the right to be protected.
Defending Constitutional Rights and Western Values
Defending Constitutional Rights and Western Values
Hope Scheppelman is a proud America First conservative who believes the Constitution is sacred, not optional. From Pueblo to Craig, she will fiercely defend our freedoms against globalists and radical leftists trying to take them away.
In Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3), law-abiding gun owners face threats from red flag laws and gun registries that violate the God-given right to self-defense. Hope stands firm against these unconstitutional mandates and will protect Second Amendment rights without compromise.
She will protect the unborn by empowering men and women to make healthy life choices through medical services and education provided in a safe and supportive environment.
Religious freedom and personal liberty are under attack. Hope will oppose the weaponization of federal agencies like the DOJ and FBI, which silence conservative voices, and fight to restore justice.
She stands for faith, family, freedom, and personal responsibility, the values that built the West. In Congress, Hope will be a bold voice for the Constitution and hardworking people of Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3).
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver for CD3:
- Defend the Second Amendment against red flag laws, gun registries, and federal restrictions.
- Protect the unborn by supporting education and medical services that empower healthy life choices.
- Secure election integrity with transparent, fraud-proof laws.
- Protect religious freedom and push back against government overreach.
- End the political weaponization of federal agencies like the DOJ and FBI.
- Fight woke policies that threaten our traditions and freedoms.
Hope Scheppelman will be a fearless defender of your rights and values in Washington.
Fighting for Rural Veterans and Better VA Access
Fighting for Rural Veterans and Better VA Access
As a proud U.S. Navy veteran, Hope Scheppelman understands that freedom isn’t free, and neither is the care our veterans deserve. Here in Colorado’s 3rd District (CD3), rural veterans often face overwhelming barriers to healthcare, housing, and support services. In places like La Plata, Montezuma, and Moffat counties, veterans struggle with long VA wait times, a lack of local providers, and insufficient housing options.
Hope has listened to stories from veterans who drive hours just to see a VA doctor, families left without mental health support, and those fighting in silence against PTSD and substance abuse. She knows these struggles are real and urgent.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will be a relentless advocate for our heroes by:
- Expanding VA access and housing programs, especially for under-served rural veterans who too often fall through the cracks.
- Fighting to fix the broken VA system by cutting red tape, speeding benefits, and holding the agency fully accountable.
- Prioritizing mental health care and aggressively tackling the veteran suicide crisis.
- Supporting treatment for PTSD, brain injuries, and substance abuse, because every veteran deserves a second chance.
- Strengthening job training programs and expanding the GI Bill to prepare veterans for success after service.
- Backing veteran-led businesses to create economic opportunities and honor their service.
- Championing whistleblower protections to ensure the VA operates transparently and fairly.
- Standing with military families who sacrifice alongside their loved ones.
Hope Scheppelman will always put veterans first, because America owes them everything, and rural Colorado’s veterans deserve a champion who will fight tirelessly for their care, respect, and opportunities.
Strengthening the Rural Economy and Small Business Growth
Strengthening the Rural Economy and Small Business Growth
Hope Scheppelman knows rural Colorado is the backbone of our state and country. As a former business owner, she understands the challenges small towns face, from limited capital to heavy regulations. Communities like Craig, Rio Blanco, and Pagosa Springs rely on local businesses, but federal policies and taxes are holding them back. Hope will fight to unleash rural prosperity by cutting taxes, slashing regulations, eliminating the death tax, and expanding small business loans in places like Rifle and Cortez. She’ll stop government waste and get Washington out of the way of hardworking Coloradans. Hope will cut red tape, expand broadband, and support small businesses so rural communities can thrive again. In Saguache and Dolores counties, aging roads, bridges, limited broadband, and outdated water systems threaten growth. Hope will prioritize real rural infrastructure, not urban pet projects. She will return land use control to local communities, protect ranchers and farmers from federal land grabs, and stand against radical environmentalists and harmful ESG mandates that hurt families and businesses.
As your Congresswoman, Hope will deliver to CD3:
- End federal barriers to rural job creation.
- Promote skilled trades and apprenticeships in energy, agriculture, forestry, and tourism.
- Support innovation in ranching, energy, and outdoor recreation.
- Fight woke federal policies that threaten local control.
Hope Scheppelman is committed to building a future where rural Coloradans can live, work, and thrive at home. In Congress, she’ll ensure rural America, not D.C. elites, sets our economic course.
