Why Hurd is wrong for CO and Scheppelman is right
Bottom Line
Jeff Hurd is a moderate, establishment backed freshman incumbent who:

1.
Jeff Hurd is the primary co-sponsor of the Gunnison Outdoor Resources Protection (GORP) Act. This bill would not exist without his signature and support. It is being driven by well-funded, far-left NGOs hiding behind feel-good words like “conservation” and “wilderness.” These are manipulation terms, not solutions — the same language used to quietly advance woke ideology and indoctrinate our children while stripping families of control. This isn’t about protecting land. It’s about expanding federal control, locking up Western Colorado, and silencing the people who live and work here. I will always stand with our ranchers, energy workers, and rural communities — not radical NGOs and Washington power brokers.
2.
It’s also worth noting that Jeff Hurd opposed President Trump’s pardons of the January 6 prisoners—Americans who have been locked away for years without due process, denied equal protection under the law, and abandoned by the very politicians who lecture us about “civil liberties.” I believe in equal justice, not political persecution. Not selective outrage. Not a two-tiered system where the government decides who deserves rights and who doesn’t. Political prisoners have no place in a free nation.

3.
Jeff Hurd attacks tariffs while turning around and voting to spend the money they bring in on government programs. You don’t get to bash the policy and still cash the check.
That’s not conservative.
That’s hypocrisy.

4.
Jeff Hurd has made his position clear: he opposes mass deportation and believes Americans must first become victims of a crime before he would support deporting illegal immigrants. That position is unacceptable. Public safety should come before tragedy—not after—and that is exactly why this contrast matters.

5.
6.
It’s telling that after the attack on Charlie Kirk, Jeff Hurd still voted to keep Ilhan Omar on her committees. Omar’s record of antisemitic rhetoric is well-documented, yet when accountability actually mattered, Hurd chose to side with the radical Democrat status quo. Instead of standing with Americans and unequivocally condemning hate and political violence, Jeff Hurd protected a member of Congress whose words have fueled division and antisemitism at home. That vote spoke volumes — and it wasn’t courage.

7.
Jeff Hurd supports Obamacare and the massive federal subsidies that keep it alive — a system that has raised premiums, limited choices, and forced Coloradans into government-controlled healthcare. Those subsidies funnel taxpayer dollars into insurance plans that include abortion coverage and taxpayer-subsidized gender transition procedures for minors (chemical castration and surgical mutilation), while rural hospitals close and families on the Western Slope struggle to afford basic care. Obamacare isn’t compassionate — it’s coercive. It replaces doctors and patients with Washington mandates and forces hardworking Coloradans to bankroll policies that violate their values.

8.
Jeff Hurd refuses to sign the U.S. Term Limits Constitutional Amendment pledge. That tells you everything. Washington was never meant to be a lifetime job, yet Hurd is choosing the career-politician culture over the people of Colorado. If you won’t limit your own power, you were never sent there to serve. Here is the pledge I promise to you: I will fight to end career politics and return Congress to citizen leadership.
