Scheppelman Calls on Rep. Hurd to Get His U.S. Senate Democrat Co-Sponsors to End the Shutdown
Community Release: October 17th, 2025
Bayfield, CO: Today, Hope Scheppelman called on Rep. Jeff Hurd (R) to use his elected leadership position to insist Colorado’s two Democrat US Senators reverse their votes and end the federal government’s shutdown before more Americans are hurt by their inaction.
“I’m encouraging every Coloradan I know to call, email, write, and even protest our do- nothing Democrat US Senators’s Bennett and Hickenlooper who are two of the remaining key votes needed to get our government back to work for the American people,” said Scheppelman.
Citing freshman Rep. Jeff Hurd’s close alliance with Congressional Democrats, Scheppelman makes the case that because he is the co-sponsor for Bennett and Hickenlooper’s so-called GORP Act, a massive landgrab scheme that benefits their allies at the expense of Pueblo and Western Slope citizens, Jeff Hurd should use his elected leadership position to step up and lead to end the shutdown:
To contact Jeff Hurd and Colorado’s two Democrat U.S. Senators:
“If Rep. Hurd wants us to believe his naive alliance with our radical Democrat Senators from Colorado is in our best interests, then he should be stepping up to lead in demanding his buddies stop their selfish gambit that only harms regular people in CD3 who need food, medicine, and protection from out-of-control crime. That’s not too much to ask, is it Jeff Hurd?,” continued Scheppelman.
Sen. Michael Bennett (D) – (202) 224-5852
Sen. John Hickenlooper (D) – (202) 224-5941
Rep. Jeff Hurd (R) – (202) 225-4676
“The dire problems in D.C. will never be solved by re-electing the same failed insiders who sell the rest of us out for their own selfish interests. If Jeff Hurd won’t convince his Democrat friends to stop their nonsense, then his willingness to lead for the rest of us is nonsense as well,” concluded Hope Scheppelman.
